One who understands that each is called to fulfill the mission out of the communal stance of a “new way of being Church” based on Vatican II and contemporary magisterial teachings seeking to respond to present contexts (by being participatory, prophetic, inculturated, missionary, pilgrim, poor, dialogical, servant, discerning). One, then, who articulates   the specific demands of a “new way of being Church” for one’s context, affirms one’s particular Church where it does well, challenges it where it needs to improve, and promotes concrete alternatives and measures for development.

One who understands that loving and obeying the Church requires critical thinking and contributing to the Church’s renewal, tapping the “sensus fidei”, integrating insights from the social sciences, and rooting out all forms of clericalism. One, then, who collaborates creatively and effectively with others—lay people, religious, clerics, all people of goodwill—for the transformation of cultures and societies towards the values of God’s reign.
