SRE is a four-month residential program designed to provide a holistic space for persons who are in transition or in need of a change of pace from their busy lives of ministry, allowing time to rest, to renew, to reflect, and to re-create with fellow pastoral workers in an Asian cross–cultural ecclesial context.
Here the participant rediscovers the richness of one’s being, appreciates more profoundly the graciousness and beauty of God’s creative love, and thus prepares to re-engage the mission of the Church with greater generosity and compassion.
In particular, participants strive to attain the following outcomes:
Psycho-Emotional Integration
Through a relaxed schedule, carefully selected week-long modules, personal reflection, group sharing, and other activities, participants gain a deeper understanding of their own personal history, giftedness, and unique personality. They become more at peace with inner tensions, personal wounds and vulnerabilities, leading to greater human and apostolic development.
Spiritual Maturity
The program offers continuous opportunities for attuning to one’s experience of God’s love through daily times for personal prayer, regular spiritual accompaniment, an Ignatian silent retreat, and modules on spirituality. Participants are guided on the path of discernment and contemplation towards attaining an enduring openness to finding God in all things.
Pastoral Renewal
The program challenges each participant and the community as a whole to critically rediscover the mission of the Church in the light of the pastoral renewal affirmed and urged by Vatican II. Program modules invite a closer look at Jesus Christ and how he continues to be active in the Church and in the world, calling each of his disciples to join him in service.
